Volunteers who work with minors must

1. Volunteers with children must allow the parish to run a copy of a photo identification.
2. The potential volunteer or employee takes Recognizing Child Abuse Class/ Reconociendo el Abuso Niño training. Give the certificate to the parish coordinator.
3. The potential volunteer gives 3 character references. The parish employees call the references.
4. The Raleigh bishop’s office runs the background check. It is not the state background check. It requires a federal identification number like an I-TIN number or social security number. The bishop’s safe environment office gets back a report. St. Mary, Garner, is told “Approved” or “Not Approved” by the bishop’s office.
5. Renew training yearly online

• You attend one session.
